Baby Romance International's
hand woven baskets, as well as the bedding are made by
established safety standards of the United Kingdom (Great
Britain for those of us who hardly leave the US). This is
because, as of yet, the U.S. does not have established safety
standards for Moses Baskets. So, when choosing your Moses
Basket supplier, ask what safety standards their products are
made by, and then come buy from us!
Basket Construction:
The baskets are made of 100% organic raw woven Palm Leaf
material. The Moses Baskets are
constructed so as to avoid any risk of pinching, cutting or
other injury to the child lying in the basket, to caregivers
or to a sibling who can come into contact with the basket.
The basket is woven in such a manner as to
avoid cuts & lacerations with gaps and openings of a size to
avoid entrapment of fingers and the risk of strangulation.
WARNING:
Maximum weight of child is 15 pounds.
The mattress measures 29" x 11" x 1 1/2".
A Moses basket is suitable for a child who cannot sit up or roll
over by itself and cannot push itself up on its hands and knees.
The safety of your child is your responsibility.
Flammability:
The baskets are tested according to EN71:2 - they shall not
produce a surface flash.
Depth, height,
rigidity & handles:
The minimum depth of the basket between the
mattress support and the upper edge of the basket is 200mm.
The manner in which the basket is woven ensures rigidity of
the sides. The handles contribute greatly to the safety of the
basket. BR baskets have handles, which are attached from right
underneath the basket and are secured at regular intervals up
the sides. They are of such a length as to meet over the
center of the basket to enable the carrier to maintain a firm
grip on both handles at the same time. The length also helps
maintain the correct balance. The handles will not flop into
the basket and present a strangulation or entanglement risk.
The proportions are such to ensure the stability of the
basket.
Bedding:
Although long ties are aesthetically pleasing any ribbons or
ties on BR products are a maximum of 220mm to avoid
entanglement and strangulation. All ends are protected from
fraying and all threads are trimmed. BR does not use
chain-stitch sewing to avoid tiny finger entrapment. The
manufacturing unit operates a strict needle policy and the
bedding is passed through a metal- detector. A pillow may look
pretty but is potentially lethal for a small infant – BR will
never supply a pillow with a Moses Basket. All filling
materials are fire-retardant polyester.
Mattress Design:
The mattresses are firm 1.5 lb density fire
retardant California grade foam. Others may be less dense
(less firm) and may not be California grade fire retardant.
