Dr. Deanna Gates is a therapeutic optometrist and certified glaucoma specialist who loves the challenge of providing thorough care to her patients. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston and her Doctorate of Optometry Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her optometric education, she completed externships at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque and Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. She also received training at the Texas A&M Health Science Center in College Station, where she was able to provide eye care services to patients with diverse medical backgrounds.
A Houston native, Dr. Jessica Ustick was inspired to become an optometrist by her father’s love for the field and the positive impact he had on his family’s lives. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, she returned to her home state and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. She has experience in primary care optometry, glaucoma management, and specialty contact lens fitting.
She is proficient in assessing candidacy for laser vision correction and cataract surgery. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Harris County Optometric Society and has been involved in numerous community service projects including Healthcare for the Homeless, See to Succeed and the Special Olympics Vision Screening Program. She enjoys meeting a wide variety of people and creating long-term relationships to ensure that her patients are receiving the most up-to-date and comprehensive eye care.
During her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband. She also likes exercising and playing sports, especially volleyball. She sees patients at the Mann Eye Institute – Katy location. Dr. Vinh Nguyen completed his undergraduate studies at Trinity University in San Antonio, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. He went on to complete his Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston, graduating with Honors. He has been with the practice since early 2017 and enjoys being able to meet new people each day. He is proficient in English and Spanish. He currently sees patients at the Cypress and Tomball locations. His hobbies include traveling, playing volleyball and football and spending time with his family. He is passionate about helping his patients achieve their best possible vision. He is happy to answer any questions that they might have. He also loves the sense of satisfaction that he gets from seeing his patients reach their goals and succeed in life.
